Apple CEO, Tim Cook’s visit to India is certainly proving to be fruitful to everyone. And Reliance Industries wants in as well. As reported by the Economic Times Apple CEO, Tim Cook seems to have had a talk with top Reliance executives, one that involved conversations to do with Apple Pay and VoLTE enabled iPhones that will work on the company’s Jio 4G network.
The meeting which took place at Mukesh Ambani’s residence lasted more than two hours where Reliance executives pitched on how Apple can play a big role in Jio’s growth. This was presented as proposition to boost the sales of Apple’s iPhones in the country.
Reliance reportedly went all in and said that it would sell these VoLTE enabled iPhones via its massive sales and distribution network and linked ecommerce firms in an effort to build a direct relationship with the tech giant.
Reliance’s pitch also focused extensively on how its blanket approach to 4G would help revolutionise the technology in India and how Apple could be a part of that revolution.
Pitching aside, Reliance was also interested in Apple and IBM’s enterprise retail solutions. According to the report, Reliance will hand over a number of iPhones and iPad to its shop-floor employees to “improve the consumer experience”.
Tim Cook pitched for Apple Pay in Reliance Retail Stores and the Reliance team seems to have agreed to evaluate the feasibility of doing the same.
