Apple launches iPhone 5S and $99 iPhone 5C with five colors

The iPhone 5S, which starts at $199, includes the much-expected fingerprint sensor. The iPhone 5C, with retina display, will retail for $99 for 16GB with a two-year contract or $199 for the 32GB version.

Apple on Tuesday unveiled its new flagship iPhone 5S and a new budget smartphone, the iPhone 5C, as it seeks to attract more customers and revitalize interest in its devices.

The iPhone 5S includes updated components, comes in three colors, and includes a fingerprint sensor to unlock the device and make purchases. It will retail for $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, or $399 for 64GB, all with a contract. The iPhone 5C, which is made of plastic, starts at $99 for the 16GB version or $199 for 32GB with a two-year contact.

Preorders start Friday. The devices will be available in stores on September 20.

"The iPhone 5C is made with all the incredible technology that customers have loved with the iPhone 5, but there's more, too," Phil Schiller said during the event. "It has an incredible new design -- one that's more fun, and more colorful than anything we've made before."

The iPhone 5C is too overpriced for an entry level iPhone and a major disappointment in terms of pricing as per initial reports. :-/
The pricing mentioned in the report above is for 2-years contract (with monthly fee to the carrier). Read this for clarity:

The iPhone 5c was supposed to be Apple's weapon to take on Android in at least the mid-level smartphone segment, if an entry-level pricing was never going to come to fruition. However, one look at the off-contract pricing for the iPhone 5s in various regions, and all those hopes can be put to rest.

The entry-level 16GB iPhone 5c without a contract has been priced at $549 in the US. That comes out to a whopping Rs. 35,000 at current exchange rates (1 USD = 63.65 INR) and does not include the duties and other charges that come in while pricing a product in India. If you were hoping for a sub-Rs. 25,000 pricing for the iPhone 5c in India, it's safe to say we won't see anything like that. :wall

The pricing in other regions is even worse, with the iPhone 5c priced at 599 euros (approximately Rs. 50,500) in Germany and 469 pounds in the UK (approximately Rs. 47,000). Of course both those prices include VAT, which can be sizeable. Pricing in Hong Kong is HKD 4,688 (approximately Rs. 38,500). However, it's the pricing in China, one of two "emerging markets" - the other being India - that the iPhone 5c was said to be targeting that is really surprising. The iPhone 5c price in China is 4488 Chinese Yuan Renminbi, which works out to over Rs. 46,500, without duties or any other charges.

For iphone 5C if thr price difference is less, then everyone will opt for high end 5S

Apple Knows now they stand no way near to Samsung in the Telecom market, so Apple had to do something to rule the telecom world again but unfortunately they failed again this year. And many where expecting a bigger screen on Iphone 5s and a higher MP camera but the Same Iphone 5 with some add on feature's like Finger print unlock which will just be boring after using it for few days and a Slow motion Video capturing feature which is just not an eye opening feature which can blow people's mind. Now for Iphone 5c it will never be around 99 USD or even 300 USD with Off contract price bcoz 99 USD price tag is just for the peoples who buy it from some US telecom company's with 2 years contract terms but it will be around 25 to 30k Indian Rupee's which is just too much for a plasticy phone and that also with a tiny 4 inch screen which feels really small near the 5 inch glorious looking screen's of Samsung S4, Sony Xperia z , Lg G2 ...... But i would say Apple should stop making Smart phones now and try to improve their IPad's bcoz thats the Field which they are still ruling.
