NEW DELHI: Mobile service providers Aircel and Airtel have announced that they will be launching Apple Inc's iPhone 4 smartphone in India on May 27.

The companies plan to offer iPhone 4 under both post-paid and pre-paid subscription plans.

In a statement, Aircel said that it will be selling 16 GB iPhone 4 version for Rs 34,500 and 32 GB version for Rs 40,900. Users will be able to recover the cost in monthly credits in their subscription accounts over 24 months, it said in a statement.

Aircel started its 3G services in the country in February.

Malaysia's Maxis Communications Bhd holds a 74% stake in Aircel, while India's Apollo Hospitals group owns the rest.

Apple's iPhone 4 was first released in the US and four other countries in June last year, with a starting price of $199.

Measuring 4.5 x 2.3 x 0.37 inches, 4 Apple's fourth-generation model comes with 3.5 inch display with 640 X 960 pixel resolution. Apple iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel camera, up from 3 megapixel in the earlier version. The camera has an LED flash. Users can now shoot a video at upto 30 FPS (frames per second) with the front camera.
