Earlier this week, search engine giant Google officially launched the new LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P in San Francisco.

Both the devices come with the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box. Now the company has confirmed that the new OS will soon be rolled out to the older Nexus series.

Google's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partners HTC and Motorola have also joined the chorus by listing the devices eligible for new v6.0 series Marshmallow OS.

Google Nexus series

One of the perks of being the Google's affiliate is that the Nexus series will be the first to get the latest Android Marshmallow and as expected Google has confirmed to release new OS update to LG Nexus 5 (2013), Motorola Nexus 6, Asus Nexus 7 (2013), HTC Nexus 9 and Nexus Player as early as 5 October.

However, the 2012 series LG Nexus 4 and Asus Nexus 7 will not be receiving any more updates as Google's obligation of software support for Nexus devices is limited to maximum two years. However, the aforementioned devices enjoyed three years of support.

Google's former mobile division -- Motorola Mobility (now, owned by Lenovo) -- has confirmed that 11 of its devices will get the new OS.

The list includes Moto X Pure Edition in the US (3rd gen & 2nd gen), Moto X Style (3rd gen), Moto X Play, Moto X (2nd gen), Moto Maxx (2014), Moto Turbo (2014), Nexus 6 (2014) and Moto G (3rd gen & 2 gen).
