The Samsung Galaxy S4 has started getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat update as per news reports.

In order to install and update the Kitkat, consumers should have 1GB free space.

Exynos-based GT-I9500 is the first version of the device to get the update but reports have it that the Snapdragon 600-running I9505 will soon get the KitKat update.

What is more interesting is that Russia and India where the I9500 model is most best-selling become the first country to get it, something that is a rarity.

The Kitkat update which is being rolled out in phases will be eventually rolled out to more countries.

After the upgrade users will experience Location Menu, better lockscreen, dedicated camera shortcut, upgraded Google apps, minor UI updates and improved stability.
