AMD has refocused its strategy and is now planning a new Fusion processor crafted specifically for tablets, insiders revealed. Code-named Desna, the Z-Series APU is touted to be highly energy-efficient with battery life up to 10.5 hours.According to the sources, the imminent processor will be able to handle HD video, 3D gaming and other serious computing tasks. The newly unleashed processor will offer more aggressive power management or fewer graphics cores to extend battery life.

The new platform will not only target consumer but also the small business units. Sources have stated that AMD is targeting Windows 7/Windows 8, predominantly for business users. But whether the Z-Series will work with Android as well is difficult to say.

The chipmaker is all set to rule the technological realm with the Z-Series for tablets, C-Series for netbooks and E-Series for ultra-thin laptops.
With this high-end invention, AMD is all set to take on Intel, which too is working a tablet platform.
