Ajmer railway station, from Saturday, went with Wi-Fi facilities and passengers will get can avail it while waiting for trains. The Wi-Fi service, called Railwire, is installed by Indian Railways in four hundred stations including Ajmer under Digital India programme. Ajmer is the second city in the state after Jaipur with this facility.
MP Sanwarlal Jat and Bhupender Yadav launched this facility in railway station on Saturday and said that will help Ajmer in showcasing an image of smart city. “This will provide the faster Wi-Fi service to all passengers and this service is commissioned by Ajmer division in association with RailTel and Google ,” said Puneet Chawla, divisional railway manager (DRM) of Ajmer division.
Explaining features of the service, Chawla said that Indian Railways is installing Wi-Fi at 400 major stations under PM’s Digital India. Forty one access points have been provided with each access point having the capacity to connect 70 passengers.
Ajmer station deals about 44,000 passengers daily and about 1.6 crore passengers will be benefited from this service in a year. Total Bandwidth of 1 GB has been provided due to which, speed of the service is excellent. Any passenger can avail this service from HD enabled phone and download audio or video for entertainment, information and stay connected. Udaipur station of Ajmer division is also to be made Wi-Fi enabled shortly. The facility is to be commissioned at Bhilwara, Marwar Jn., Rani, Falna and Abu Road stations of Ajmer division. MP Bhupender Yadav requested the DRM to make efforts towards providing cashless services through vendors at Ajmer Railway station. Guests also praised the passenger amenities works done at station in last six months.
Meanwhile, in the chain of increasing passenger amenities, platform shelter extension on platform no 1 was also inaugurated at Ajmer railway station, with a cost of Rs 1.1 crore.
