Good news for denizens of Millennium city as now they can enjoy free Wi-Fi facility at Cuttack railway station. Lok Sabha MP from Cuttack, Bhartruhari Mahtab on Tuesday inaugurated free Wi-Fi facility at the railway station here.

With this, Cuttack station has become the third railway station in the state to offer free internet facility to the passengers. The Wi-Fi facility was inaugurated in Bhubaneswar and Puri railway stations earlier this year.

Railway officials said the project has been designed to offer users the best internet experience to the passengers. “All passengers can use the RailWire Wi-Fi facility on their mobile phones and on laptops.This is a part of East Coast Railways continuing endeavors to provide more and better comfort to its esteemed passengers,” said a railway official. Railway officials claimed that Cuttack railway station will be equipped with escalators and lifts soon. Besides, beautification drive of the station will also be carried out soon.

“Construction work for provision of a lift at Platform number 1 and 2 is going on in full swing. The project will be completed very soon. After installation of lifts, escalators will also be installed at the station,” said a senior railway official. The lifts will provide much needed relief to senior citizens and differently- abled passengers. The railway officials are also taking measures to ensure cleanliness at the Cuttack railway station. The station and tracks are being cleaned thrice a day. Devraj Panda, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road was also present on the occasion.
