India's top telecom operator, Bharti Airtel has deployed 4G Advanced technology in Bengaluru which will combine 2300 MHz (TD LTE) and 1800 MHz (FD LTE) bandwidth capacities to provide high speed data . The company said that it will enable 4G data speeds of up to 135 Mbps on commercially available handsets, however only customers with handsets supporting 4G Advanced will be able to avail this data speed.
The telco claims to have deployed India's first carrier aggregation in Kerala in February 2016 where it was able to achieve data speeds of up to 135 Mbps, it has also deployed the technology in the Mumbai region. With the deployment in Bengaluru, the company aims to offer faster 4G experience-indoors and outdoors.
Some of the key benefits of 4G Advanced technology are low latency and 50% reduction of delays between click and download. The technology allows operators to use different spectrum bands on the same network service.
"With today's rollout (part of Project Leap), Bengaluru is among the few cities globally to have high speed data services over 4G Advanced, " said Airtel in a statement.
"With the additional network capacity, customers in Bengaluru can look forward considerably improved data speeds and better coverage, " said C. Surendran, CEO, Karnataka region, Bharti Airtel .
