Facing a threat from Reliance Jio, Airtel has been making numerous announcements in the past month to the benefit of its customers. After slashing 3G and 4G data tariffs, Airtel has now made yet another announcement that offers users with data benefits. The operator is encouraging users to download the ‘My Airtel’ smartphone app, and is offering 15GB of 4G data at the price of 1GB. The offer is valid only for its prepaid customers. Hit the break to find out all the details.
Airtel’s new offer is clearly aimed at countering the growing influence of Reliance Jio . By only asking users to download the My Airtel app, the company has made it relatively easy for users to get 14GB of free data after they have recharged for 1GB. So in essence, for about Rs 250, users are getting 15GB of data. Interestingly, this announcement comes amidst Airtel’s ‘Data Dhamaka’ offer. Users who consume higher-than-average data are being offered 10GB free data by Airtel. This free data is directly credited to the users’ accounts.
How to avail the offer?
The offer is pretty simple, and only Airtel prepaid customers who have an upgraded 4G SIM and 4G smartphone can claim the offer. All you need to do is download the My Airtel app and you will be entitled to get 15GB of data at the price of 1GB data for the next three months. Please note that this is a promotional data offer and for customer who are using 3G services can experience 4G speed at a substantial low cost for the next three months.
In the past we have come across such offer from Vodafone as well. Vodafone, in September, announced that under its Vodafone SuperNet data plan, users will get 10GB of 4G data for the price of 1GB. The offer is valid till December 31 and available for its 3G/4G connection. To avail the offer, you must buy a data pack that offers at least 1GB of data (pack of Rs 250 and above), and validity of 28 days.
What else is Airtel offering?
Airtel has recently also announced new international roaming packs for users in India, which allow free incoming calls, free India calling minutes, free text messages pack, and special data packs. These packs will be available for both prepaid and postpaid customers. The international roaming pack charges users for calls to India and local in-country calls for as low as Rs 3 per min. However, if you tend to exhaust the pack you will be charged Rs 3/MB.
Not only this, last month, Airtel also announced the launch of a special 4G data pack that offers free data for 90 days. The 4G data pack is priced at Rs 1,495 for existing Airtel 4G prepaid customers and for new users, it is available for Rs 1,494. The company has also introduced ‘Airtel Night’ which offers 50 percent data as cashback to users browsing the internet between 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM. The plan is available for 2G, 3G and 4G subscribers. 50 percent of the data consumed in this period is credited in the morning and can be used anytime during the day. Note this cashback service is available for prepaid users
