NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel, India's largest telco by subscribers said that it is offering its entire content catalogue on Airtel TV to its postpaid and prepaid users on a free subscription basis till June 2018, having enhanced the content bouquet by adding over 300 TV channels, and over 6000 plus movies and popular shows to take on Reliance Jio's content services that the latter offers bundled with its cellular services.

We are thrilled to introduce the latest version of Airtel TV with great content and an improved, intuitive User Interface. The improvements to the app are a result of constantly listening to our customers and taking their feedback to the design table. We believe that we have built an app for India’s needs and backed it with a large and exciting content catalogue to serve the fastest growing screen – the smartphone," Sameer Barta, CEO – Wynk said in a statement.

Airtel said that it is building a partner ecosystem to curate and offer digital content from all leading platforms at one place. Currently, Airtel TV has partnerships with Eros Now, SonyLIV and HOOQ, with several more on the anvil.

In addition to live TV channels, and over 6000 Hollywood and Bollywood movies, the app now offers content in 15 languages – English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Assamese, Odia, French and Urdu.

Oh ya, was waiting for this. Saying that it "makes" the subscription free is wrong on the report's part- it was always free. Only thing is it has been enhanced quite well. Waiting for English movie channels and ofcourse, Star Network (looks unlikely though)
