Till 2015-16 times, people underestimated IPTV so all IPTV services shutdown. Now the same people felt IPTV as valuable and demanded it so companies are bringing it back. 🤷
All the content of TV channels is now available on OTT apps at low cost and ad free.

OTT apps were not that popular in 2015-16.

There's another side too. Data wasn't cheaper then. Airtel used to provide V-Fiber which was basically copper cable internet on steroids. I think during that time IPTV was buffering a lot and not rain resistant since copper broadband were prone to disconnection during the rains. Now all these problems solved so they are bring it back.

I think no hassle of dish antenna installation also make some people relaxed who stay in apartments or rental house and not having permission to install anything on the roof.

We need iptv just for live sports and news with good ui and quality like 4k, not for GEC and movies.

Yes, Why you need stb when you can stream through single app. Though world wide channels through internet have taken over satellite
Sports Streaming in app with huge viewership for live cricket is still struggling without proper 4k and fps, so we need iptv (without dish) for some rented homes and big apartments complexes/gated communities.

During those times Internet was not available everywhere except Tier 1 cities. Now even rural areas have Air Fiber.

IPTV if introduced properly with correct technology and infrastructure can be a great experience with FTTH or AirFiber in the future.
But a network congestion and data consumption is still a question. IPTV with wired connection only will survive longer. Airfiber is still a baby only.

What are the benefits of IPTV over regular DTH? As an Airtel Xstream Fiber customer, when will IPTV be available for existing fiber users to choose? If I upgrade my plan from ₹999 to ₹1099, I will get channels worth ₹350, but that was also the case with DTH. So, what’s the real advantage? Apart from less wiring and no outdoor unit (ODU), I have doubts about the performance of IPTV over Wi-Fi compared to wired DTH—unless I connect the IPTV box with an Ethernet cable.
