Adam Milne ruled out of IPL with hamstring tear
Adam Milne, the New Zealand and Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer, became the latest injury casualty of Indian Premier League (IPL 2016), having been forced out of the remainder of the tournament due to a grade-two hamstring injury. The injury prone 24-year-pacer was absent during the team's practice session on Friday (May 6) and is reported to have flown back to New Zealand. Milne joins fellow pacer Mitchell Starc and Samuel Badree on the sidelines, further depleting Royal Challengers' bowling options.
Milne, who was signed up for INR 70 lakh in the 2015 auctions, featured in the Bangalore franchise's tournament opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 12, but was left out of the team's subsequent matches after conceding 43 runs in his four-over spell. The talented seamer, tipped to take over the reins of leading the team's attack in Starc's absence, has been fraught with fitness concerns since picking up a heel injury during the 2015 World Cup, which ruled him out of last year's IPL.
Milne's absence leaves the team with only Shane Watson, David Wiese, Chris Jordan and Kane Richardson as the overseas seam bowling options. The team's lacklustre bowling efforts in the tournament have left them languishing at the seventh spot in the points table, needing an immediate turnaround in fortunes to secure a playoffs berth. Virat Kohli's men next take on the Rising Pune Supergiants at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday(May 7).
