if 1080p requires a lot of bandwidth then just think how much bandwidth is required for 4K n 8K :P TV brands should not even think of 16K for atleast 20 more years as 1080p itself is not in use (For dth n cable that is)
From wikipedia
"Recent studies show that for digital broadcasts compressed with H.264/AVC, transmission bandwidth savings of interlaced video over fully progressive video are minimal even when using twice the frame rate, i.e., 1080p50 signal (50 progressive frames per second) actually produces the same bit rate as 1080i50 signal (25 interlaced frames or 50 sub-fields per second)."

Also future compression HEVC/H.265 will be very helpful for 4k broadcast.

Yeah but how many years might it take to launch a 4K channel in India? I guess atleast 4-5 years are required... Anyways by the time they launch one i'll get a 8K tv:D until then 1080i/720p is more than enough

Bro even we have not a 1080p channel. so how we thinking about 4k channel in india.

1080p signal at 50 Hz ?:huh

Yeah whats wrong with that? Old PAL countries uses 50hz and NTSC countries uses 60hz when hd signal is concerned
We are talking about TV signal. How do u get 1080p 50hz signal other than PC? Even blue ray disc has 1080p 24 Hz.

Why is this thread in Tatasky section?

First i dont know why its in tatasky section second bluray have 24 hz because movies which you sees in cinema hall shot in 24 frames per second and tv hd programes shot in 50hz(mostly europe/india subcontinent/austrlia/some others) or 60hz(america/japan/maybe few others).

Even tatasky hd channels are in 1080i @ 50hz.

Yes that is 1080i 60 Hz not 1080p 60Hz :k. This is what I am trying to say in last few post. u cannot get 1080p at 60Hz other than pc

Right now we cannot get 1080p on tv signal because nobody using it but it is very much possible to broadcast tv channels in 1080p @ 50/60 hz
