TRAI crack down on Spam Calls and SMS

As per TRAI decisions:

1.If any entity is found making spam calls, all the Telecom Resources of the entity shall be disconnected and blacklisted by all Telecom Operators for upto 2 years.

2.With effect from 1st September 2024, NO message, containing URLs/APKs that are not whitelisted, shall be allowed to be delivered.

Discussion Jio fiber high latency while gaming

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing high latency while gaming and could really use some advice. 🥺 I play the following games daily:

Call of Duty®: Warzone™ Mobile
Call of Duty: Mobile
Battlegrounds Mobile India
NEW STATE: NEW ERA OF BR

I'm playing over 5 GHZ Wi-Fi.
The router is in close proximity, with no obstacles between the router and my gaming device.
Despite this, I'm still getting inconsistent ping and occasional high latency during gaming sessions. It feels like I'm on a 3G connection instead of fiber—it's totally inconsistent. I've tried optimizing various settings, but the problem persists.

Has anyone else faced similar issues or have any suggestions on what I could do to reduce latency and improve my gaming experience? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion Will JioFiber expansion happen in the future?

I am waiting for Jio Fiber in my so called smart City of Panaji in Goa.

Jio employees say I should go for Air Fiber. I said I want only Jio Fiber, they have no idea if at all it would be made available.

Its so sad that so called smart City does not have Jio Fiber... Either Jio is not interested in this market or they haven't got permission from the State Govt.

As of now I am using BSNL FTTH, and quite happy with their service, apart from that we have Airtel Xtreme Fiber also available here.

Initial experience with Jio Air fiber

Friends, I bought a Jio Air Fiber last week. The technician was very kind and installed it properly. It took 3 hours to complete the whole process.

My initial experience with Jio Air fiber


1. Clarity is good both in SD and HD channels

2. All the live channels are coming,

3. For star sports channels. You can see the live matches only on Star Sports. Star Vijay is running smoothly.

3. Speed is also good. I took a 30 Mbps plan (Rs. 599 for 3 months).

4. Channels are running smoothly without any buffering.

5. Changing channels is quick; there is no lag.

6. The signal strength is consistently strong, even when it's raining.

Jio Fiber & AirFiber relocation process has been changed

Jio has added a new Fiber Relocation Booking page (Jio Fiber Relocation Booking - Terms & Conditions) on their website. It has all the necessary details about this new relocation process.

I assume, Jio changed the process for relocation and added the existing connection cancelation part because not everywhere Optical Fiber is available so in such cases AirFiber will be given instead. The Rs. 1000 payment and later adjustment with the new connection was an unnecessary addition I feel, though.

Some important highlights from the above linked page:
  • Upon receipt of request for relocation, we will suspend your existing connection within 24 hrs to 48 hrs of your submission of request. You are allowed to cancel your request for relocation only within 24hrs.
  • The installation and activation of JioFiber/ JioAirFiber in new location is subject to feasibility for installation in the area/ building where you want to relocate.
  • You will have to avail a new connection at the new location with same Registered Mobile Number as that of existing connection, and you shall be required to pay an amount of Rs. 1000/- as booking amount (“Booking Amount”) by such mode as determined and notified by the Company from time to time. The Booking Amount shall be adjusted with the available plan selected by you at the time of installation and activation at the new location.
  • You shall return all Service Equipment, in working condition before moving to new location. You agree to provide necessary access of your premises to our authorized representatives to carry out the uninstallation process and inspection of the Service Equipment. In case you carry Service Equipment to your new location, it will be your responsibility to deposit the devices at the nearest Jio Centre.
  • The balance subscription amount (net of GST) for the remaining validity period, shall be assessed by the Company and refunded to you within 90 days. The Company shall from time to time determine and communicate the manner in which the balance subscription amount (i) will be refunded and (ii) redeemed. Further the refund is subject to you availing a new fiber connection and such refund (if any) can be redeemed when your account has a positive outstanding amount. The refund will be forfeited if the new connection at the new location cannot be installed for any reason, or if you cancel the new connection before the refund is redeemed.

Seeking Help Audio pass through to soundbar

I have a smart tv, binge+ box and samsung soundbar. When I am connecting stb to tv , audio getting passed to the soundbar as expected but picture quality not good...other option I tried today , connecting stb to soundbar, here it is cutting off hdr signal and thus I am getting good picture quality..now the problem, I am getting audio in soundbar but when connected through 1st option vol level 9-12 is sufficient but when connected through method 2 (stb to soundbar) , I need to use volume level from 20-35 , even when increasing or decreasing vol, the actual audio level change per level is very low...any idea why? I have stb vol to full level and controlling soundbar vol only.

Breaking Excitel IPTV

I have recently renewed the Excitel IPTV plan and surprisingly Excitel has completely ditched PlayBoxTV now, Thank god, they were so bad with literally everything. The renewed subscription has come up with All the OTT app subscriptions through the OTT Play app, and they have provided me access to the ULKA TV app for IPTV.

I can say ULKA TV provides IPTV in a real way, Yes, all the channels exist in this and the rates are according to TRAI.
I haven't seen any downtime in ULKA so far, yes there was an error sometimes with the message "SOURCE ERROR", but it got fixed automatically in a couple of seconds.

Channels Quality - For the HD channels, 1080p constant, no doubt! and for non-HD channels, I have no idea.

It's been a month now and I have no complaints from ULKA TV so far. Excitel works fine at my location as well but it varies from LCO to LCO.
