Discussion JioFiber ONT Firmware Updates

I am creating this thread to discuss about JioFiber ONT Firmware Updates.

Last night my JioFiber ONT (JCOW414) was automatically updated to version R2.57 from R2.52.1.

The ONT web configuration page (192.168.29.1) has some visual changes.

One useful change I found was router uptime is now visible on the web configuration page under Status -> Device status -> System information.

iPhone 16 Pro: Poor network reception

I'm a newbie to iPhone, and bought a 16 pro global variant from Norway, as a replacement (not sure if I call it an upgrade :D ) for my S23. I'm struggling to get familiarized with the change, and in between found the network reception is really poor with my phone. My provider is Airtel. The phone was examined by Support and they are saying it's all good.

I had an odd experience where, I was having just 1 bar coverage, and missing most calls during a vacation. Later I found that my wife who is also on Airtel has full coverage with 5G on her Mi 11 Lite. Then I tested my S23 and it was also having full coverage. On the Internet I see a few people complaining about the same, but no Indian customer feedback is there. Are there any friends here having the same experience or any comments from experts?

I'm a bit disappointed and concerned about this.

Discussion Travelling on Holidays

I just came back from 2 days holiday in Chikmagalur. If someone wants to see how gigantic population is affecting us the travel on an extended holiday weekend. There were so many people everywhere.I don't know whether this is Bangalore specific phenomenon where people would anywhere but will not stay at home during extended weekends.I drove to Chikmagalur and getting to eat at Restaurants on the way was itself a herculean task.It was almost as if they were distributing free ration such was the rush at every single restaurant. It totally kills the holiday vibes when you see a sea of people everywhere, fighting to park car,eat or even take photos.Personally i would rather sit at home next time rather than contributing to the crowd.

Beware: Jio AirFiber relocation service is a total scam

I request that you never relocate the Jio Air Fiber connection. The relocation process is a total scam.

1. They will not relocate the same devices or connection.
2. They will close the old connection and ask you to purchase a new connection, and the validity of the old connection is given in a voucher after 90 days.
3. If you go for relocation, the app will ask you to pay ₹1000. After that, there will be KYC and the remaining amount for the plan. Once you pay, they will by default take a request for Jio Air Fiber Max; however, most locations do not have Air Fiber Max devices, and Jio engineers are also not trained for installation—except in metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi.
4. The ₹1000 is a non-refundable amount, which will only be used for a new connection, not for anything else.

I have requested a relocation, which has been my biggest mistake. I am living in Valsad, Gujarat, and since this is not a metro city, they don’t have the devices. Engineers are asking for payment again, but for ₹1000, I either have to forget about it or wait 15 days to submit a new request.

I have been using Jio Air Fiber for the last year and had never faced any issues, but for the last 15 days, I have been completely frustrated.

**Pro tip for all users**: If there is a 5G tower and good range inside your home, and you want to relocate, simply remove the device from the top and install it yourself. Don’t call support or anyone.

My Jio Fiber's WiFi range is very poor

My Jio Fiber's WiFi range is very poor. I tried complaining but the solution from Jio is to either move the placement of the router or buy their extender. Earlier I had Airtel and BSNL and never had any WiFi range issues. I switched to Jio during their initial days and already replaced the router once in the first few months because of poor range and signal. It was so bad that their STB was not working. Range improved slightly after replacement but nothing close to the range of Airtel's router. It has been like 3 or 4 years after the replacement now and the range is worse now. During the initial days, the service was better. They would send technicians the same day in most cases. They are not even sending their technicians to look into the issue now. They close the complaints without a visit. Same response from their appellate authority too. Their options are either to change the placement or buy an extender.

Which is the best option?

1. I don't want to buy their extender but thinking of TP-LINK AX10.
2. Change to Airtel Fiber. I am already using their DTH and paying 300+rs every month. Airtel Black might be valuable. But I never had significant downtime with Jio and hence I am hesitant to switch.
3. Does Jio replace routers for customers with issues like these because it looks like their routers have a poor range in general?
