Last year, I had
mentioned that Airtel has changed their FAT box overall design for new areas where they were expanding. My area also having this new type FAT boxes installed because it's a newly fiberized area.
Today I discovered a video showcasing the detailed explanation on the improvements Airtel has made to their new FAT boxes.
Most importantly, now every port is separately having optical power line coming from the backside (2nd part where ports are connected) of the box so if one fiber wire gets damaged inside the box, it will only make that particular connection down. Previously, it was making the entire connections from that FAT box down because all ports were powered by one single fiber line in the back.
I also noticed, previously Airtel FAT box used to have 8:1 and 16:1 cassette type port extenders but now all the ports are built inside the FAT box which makes it less difficult to manage and safer from damage. Apart from that, all these new FAT box are having 16 ports, no 8 ports model available because of removal of the cassette system.
