Coolpad takes Xiaomi to court; want Eight Xiaomi Phones, Including Mi Mix 2 Banned For Patent Infringement

Coolpad discovered the unspecified violations and informed Xiaomi back in January. Xiaomi was observed to have continued producing smartphones that violated its intellectual property. As a result, the company is formally applying to have the case heard by a court in Shenzhen.

The company is demanding a ban on the specific Xiaomi phones which infringes on the said patent. The phones that could get banned include the Mi Mix, Redmi Note 4X, Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi Note 3, Redmi Note 5, Redmi 5 Plus and Mi 5X. Coolpad is also seeking compensation from Xiaomi for economic losses.

Net Neutrality in USA

The Federal Communications Commission said in a notice Thursday that landmark 2015 U.S. open-internet rules will cease on June 11.

The FCC in December repealed the Obama-era “net neutrality” rules, allowing internet providers to block or slow websites as long as they disclose the practice. The FCC said the new rules will take effect 30 days from Friday.

An FCC spokeswoman confirmed the new rules will take effect on June 11.

Subramaniam Badrinath to announce retirement from all forms of cricket

Subramaniam Badrinath, who played two Tests, seven ODIs and one T20I, is all set to announce his retirement after the completion of Indian Premier League 2018, a report in Times of India suggests. He skipped 2017/18 season for Hyderabad after seeing no room for international comeback. Though, he did not announce his retirement then.

He did not turn out for Hyderabad in the entire season, that gave indications that he might call it quits soon. He is all set to make an official announcement regarding this once the IPL season is over. The 37-year-old player is currently doing commentary in IPL and is also writing about the league at various platforms.
