Since today, YouTube has become outdated for my older device (Redmi Note 5A). It was all okay yesterday but now it's redirecting me to this page. 👇

It's funny that if I clear the app data, it works well for one run and on the second run, it's redirecting to this page again.

Yeah! Happens to me sometimes. I've read it somewhere that PIP availability depends upon many factors like device, version, region and free or premium membership. Moreover, YouTube sometimes experiments this feature for free users for specific regions for a limited time. Maybe that's when you and I got this.

They removed ads too for older devices. Now it's back since last few days.

Hmm? But I was getting ads every time, when YouTube was functional. To be precise, that phone is on Android 7.1. Maybe it would have been for later versions.

Anyway, it's not only me, Google has discontinued support for the YouTube app on devices running Android versions 6.0 through 7.1.
"
Users on these versions may encounter a message prompting them to update the app or switch to YouTube.com, indicating that the app is no longer supported on their device.

This change is part of Google's periodic updates to its security standards, which some older devices can no longer meet. Consequently, the YouTube app version 17.34.36 is the last to support Android 6.0 to 7.1."

Screw Google. I still use my old phone for podcast and videos to avoid distractions.

I do use Brave in my other phone but not primarily for YouTube; I use it for other convenient features.

Now talking about the older phone, Brave too isn't supported for Android 7.1 or less. And, YouTube in-app experience is way better than browser experience.

Good news. Some app that shall be not named got it's biggest update in years. Goodbye, youtube. It's better than your outdated crap. 😉
