Xiaomi sells 23 lakh units of the Redmi Note 3 in India
Xiaomi makes another record by selling over 2 million Redmi Note 3 handsets in India. The company is celebrating the milestone with a contest, here's all you need to know about it.
The Redmi Note 3 has been a proven performer among Xiaomi’s line of smartphones launched this year. After achieving a milestone of selling over 17 lakh units of the Redmi Note 3 in India within five months since launch, Xiaomi has now announced another leap that it has sold a total of 23 lakh units of Redmi Note 3 in the country. Xiaomi claims the smartphone to be the top selling phone online ever in India. It further says on its official website that a Redmi Note 3 is sold every 7 seconds. Also, one out of every nine smartphones shipped online is a Redmi Note 3.
To celebrate the milestone, Xiaomi is holding a contest for customers to win a Redmi Note 3 or coupons. The contest has already started today, and will last till September 29. As a challenge for the contest, Xiaomi has a little game that stresses on the aspect of a Redmi Note 3 being sold every 7 seconds, and to make users realize how rare that really is. After logging in or signing up with your Mi account, the game basically asks a customer to type out a given statement in under 7 seconds. Each players gets three chances each day, and by sharing the post on Facebook gets them more chances every time. A user is allowed to share the post of Facebook only twice a day, and have a maximum of 9 chances per day. Other than that, the contest page on Xiaomi’s website also asks users why they love Redmi Note 3, which they can type it out on a box below. The answers can be seen floating in animation right across the screen.
Xiaomi has consistently been doing very well in India. Last month Xiaomi revealed that in just five months it managed to sell 1.75 million units of the smartphone in India. Even in the first two months of its launch, Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra had revealed that the company had sold 600,000 units in India.
According to an IDC report released last month, Xiaomi shipped 880,000 units of the Redmi Note 3 in India during the second quarter of 2016. In other words, one out of every nine smartphones sold online during Q2 was a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. This is the highest number of smartphones shipped to be sold online in any given quarter, according to IDC.
