Xiaomi has launched its 2016 flagship Mi 5 in India at Rs 24,999. The smartphone was first showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Xiaomi had announced three variants of its Mi 5 during its global launch at MWC but here the smartphone is coming only in 3GB RAM, 32GB storage option. The first sale is on April 6 from Mi.com and Hugo Barra has confirmed that the device will be available on other retailers later.

Here is our quick look at the key specifications of Xiaomi Mi 5

Xiaomi Mi 5 comes in black, gold and white colour variants with a metal and glass design with 3D Glass. The Mi 5 Pro has a 3D ceramic body. Mi 5 weighs 129 g and is 7.25 mm thick.

The screen is 5.15-inches, full HD display, and the fingerprint scanner is on the front. Xiaomi claims that Mi 5 features a very vibrant display with 600-nit brightness, and is also 17 per cent more power efficient.

Processor, Performance:

Mi 5 runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor (clocked at 1.3 Ghz in the starting model and 1.5 Ghz in the other two). The new Mi 5 is also VoLTE compatible, and supports 4G +. Mi 5 is also the first Xiaomi phone with UFS 2.0 for storage.

Camera:

Xiaomi Mi 5 has a 16MP rear camera with 4-axis OIS, and the front camera is 4 megapixels with a wide-angle lens. Xiaomi claims that the new 4-axis OIS will be better for long shots, as well for low light and moving objects. Hugo Barra called it a “technology breakthrough,” during the MWC launch event.
Mi 5 has a Sony IMX298 sensor, PDAF and DTI for pixel to pixel isolation, which prevents colour-bleeding.

Battery, OS, Connectivity:

Xiaomi Mi 5 has a 3000mAh battery. The company says the fast charge on the phone allows it to give two and a half hours of talktime after charging for just 5 minutes. Xiaomi Mi 5 runs Android 6 with MIUI 7 on top.

in china as price Rs.20,000 & in India price for Rs.25000...:huh
Disappointed, Overpriced, Unexpected...:-/
Down of MI in India started!!! Huge.. Huge disappointment!!...:(

Even Mi4 was launched @ Rs. 20K price, 1 year later its price is Rs. 14.5K. Then even affordable Mi4i (Rs. 12K) was launched.

So guys we can expect massive discounts on Mi5 also later in the year.

But till that time the profit making period would be over for Xiaomi,in next 2 or 3 months One Plus 3 and Zenfone 3 would come in the market with much better specs and price

China price lower bcoz phone is being manufactured there. ;)

Once you import device it will attract custom duty which Govt has hiked in last budget. Once they start manufacturing it in India price will come down :k

Yes prices of China and India can't be compared, even if they released it in US or Europe it would had been cheaper there than India
Heavy taxes are imposed in India on Foreign import, that is another reason why these companies miss the headphones in Indian models cutting the costs of overall product
But still I feel it is 2K or 3K more costly
