Xavi Hernandez to leave Barcelona
According to Barcelona-based sports daily, Sport, Xavi has decided to leave Barcelona and will make the formal announcement upon his return from Brazil.
Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu and sporting director, Andoni Zubizarreta were made aware of the decision by Xavi’s representative, Ivan Corretja as the two sides proceeded to agree to allow the Spanish international to join Qatari side, Al-Arabi on a €4 million transfer fee.
Upon his return to Barcelona after a disappointing 2014 World Cup, Xavi and Barcelona will hold a joint press conference, where the playmaker will say his farewell and explain the reasons behind making this important next step in his career.
The report goes on to state that Xavi has decided to move on because he knows he will not be a consistent starter under his former teammate and new manager, Luis Enrique, who has already filled his role with the transfer of Sevilla’s Ivan Rakitic, following the sale of Cesc Fabregas.
