Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 News and Updates

Hope all the teams are for non IPL cities as this will help cricket in developing in other regions like Nagpur, Ranchi, Kochi etc and will also make sure that crowds will be there

According to the Invitation To Tender (ITT) of the WIPL franchises, the clauses of which are known now, the revenue sharing arrangement will be 80-20 in the first five years, from 2023 to 27. The formula will be 60-40 in the next five years - from 2028 to 32 and finally it will settle at the 50-50 margin from 2033 onwards, between franchises and the BCCI, the regulator. Currently it is 50-50 between franchises and the BCCI in the IPL although the pattern was similar when the IPL started.

As has already been reported, there is no base price to bid for a franchise and the BCCI has made it clear that a consortium will not be allowed to own a team. Interested parties will be required to have a net worth of Rs 1000 crores. For a perspective, the similar clause for a new IPL team, when the BCCI sold the Ahmedabad and Lucknow franchises in 2020, was Rs 3000 crores. The ITT seems to have attracted a lot of interest from both the IPL and outside parties.

As per the timeline presented in the ITT, the parties can seek clarifications till January 13 and the tender document will be available for purchase up to January 21. January 23rd is the date for the due diligence and verification process and two days later, on January 25, the franchises will be allotted through a closed bidding process.

The ITT does not mention the salary cap for the franchises but in a recent communication to concerned parties, the BCCI has said that the base price slabs for the capped players will be Rs 50 lakh, Rs 40 lakh and Rs 30 lakh and for the uncapped players it will be Rs 20 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. The auction will be in February.

Yes that will help to expand but as a promotion value it never give the same hype which current ipl teams give hope rcb also come into fray coz England cricketer females divided into two franchise rcb and csk so that also shows these franchise limelight value only thing they could do is host match in small city's which helps them from viewer's count it also helps as then we see jam packed stadium coz we saw earlier in women's IPL season stadium hardly full packed even women's bbl also follow this give matches to small not famous frounds so that more crowd come okus ground size akso helpfull for women's as then less need of boundry meter cutting by decreasing using rope

ESPNcricinfo has confirmed that Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and defending IPL champions Gujarat Titans will be submitting bids. The two remaining IPL franchises - Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants - did not confirm whether they had bought the tender document and whether they would enter the bidding for the five-team Women's IPL, which is scheduled to be launched in March.
