It's because children like to give parents more privacy ;)

How many of our parents have active s** life after children grow up :dodgy

Further children hv to work from age 16 & it gives the base for them to support themselves !
Right.

the answer is pretty simple.. they dont warm the bench, sitting at home and eating at the expense of parents and being burden for them, as we all did/do/will do... they earn their own bread.. and they respect mutual privacy.. also school graduation is enough for them to get a job.. and they work and study during college.. yes, they would depend on parents partially but not entirely as it is in India.. but that doesnt mean, they dump their parents.. they live away but together.. this is what i came to know while speaking with thousands of customers (both young and old) when i worked for around 6 years, in Technical Support for US customers..:k:k:k
Good reasons you provided. Thanks.

When does a child becomes an adult in U.S.? I mean age?
15 or 18 years?

A lot depends on that also

Like in India it is 18 years

i think we can safely say, when they complete 10th grade.. and that would be around 15-16 years... in US education is compulsory between age 5-18 depending on the state you live in... they would complete the 10th grade at 15-16yrs and they get the Junior High School graduation.. this is enough for them to earn a job...;););)

I am talking about legal age?

Like in India 15-16 years is enough to travel alone but he is still a minor
At 18 years he is considered an adult by the government

In US density of population is low and there is a need and opportunity to expand out of family settings. You can rent for around $1000 a month or buy a new house for around 150,000$ which is not that big if you consider their income levels. Average beginners salary will be close to 10,000$/month and if your SO is also earning they can easily afford to pay for it with a 3 years loan.

Another factor is the availability of hospice for old people and the industry that caters to old people's care. Which makes it easier for parents to let go of children as money alone can make their retirement secure.
