While Harbhajan Singh gets ready to step into Sachin Tendulkar's shoes as the captain of Mumbai Indians, Rahul Dravid is all set to lead Rajasthan Royals during this edition of the Indian Premier League. And while they get ready to prove their might on the field once again, some players will be missing in action. Not just them, even some glam gals will stay away from the stands. BT does the round-up.

Yuvraj Singh: The stylish cricketer, who knows how to send the ball sailing into the stands, will be among the players missing in action. Currently in the US recovering from a rare germ cell cancer, Yuvraj has been the cause of nightmares for many bowlers including Stuart Broad, who he had hit for six sixes in a T-20 match against England. This match winner will be missed by his teammates and fans alike.

Shane Warne: The King of Spin led Rajathan Royals to an unbelievable victory during the first edition of the game. Last year during the tournament he announced his decision to call it quits. Rahul Dravid will lead the team this year. England batsman Owais Shah (who played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala last year) is the new addition to the team.

Andrew Symonds: The Australian cricketer retired from all forms of cricket to concentrate on his family. Symonds will soon be seen playing doting dad in real life. During the last edition of IPL, he shared the dressing room with his one-time foe Harbhajan Singh. The two claimed that they got along just fine. His last visit to India, however, wasn't to play a match. Instead he was seen as a housemate on Bigg Boss 5, entertaining the audience by singing Aati Kya Khandala.

Ishant Sharma: Ishant, who was to play for Deccan Chargers, has been ruled out of this edition of the IPL following an ankle surgery. He even missed the tri-nation ODI series due to the injury. Deccan Chargers' captain Cameron White admitted that the absence of their star pacer will be a big loss for the team. It remains to be seen how they plan to fill the void.

Also Injured: South Africa's Graeme Smith and Australian all-rounder James Hopes, who were to play for Pune Warriors, have been ruled out due to injuries. While Smith recently underwent an ankle surgery, Hopes has injured his knee. This will prove to be major blow for the Pune team that is already short of their star performer Yuvraj.

VVS Laxman: The Very Very Special cricketer, who is a name to reckon with in the Test series format, remained unsold this year. The batsman was a part of Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The franchise has been terminated this year by the BCCI. While many other team members like Sreesanth and Owais Shah were picked up by other teams, none of the bidders bid for Laxman.

CELEB FILES

Liz Hurley: After cheering on boyfriend Shane Warne and kissing him to celebrate his victory, much to the delight of the shutterbugs, Liz Hurley seems to have lost interest in cricket and Rajasthan this year. She recently tweeted, "No, to Indian followers... sadly @warne888 and I will not be at IPL this year. Sob."

Shilpa Shetty: This co-owner of Rajasthan Royals is likely to miss the Twenty20 matches this year due to her pregnancy. In a tweet to Shane Warne she said, "Miss you too Warnie, me too looking forward to IPL 5. Dunno how many matches am gonna be able to go for... I am 7 months preggers."

Will he, won't he? Shah Rukh Khan: King Khan was mighty upset when the janta booed him when his team Kokata Knight Riders played against Pune Warriors in Mumbai. He even stayed away from the next match against Mumbai Indians. SRK's friend and Juhi Chawla's husband, Jai Mehta, had told the media last year, "The last time Shah Rukh turned up for a KKR match in Mumbai, he was booed by a large section of the crowd. It hurt him badly." Apparently, SRK has decided to stay away from IPL matches to be played at Mumbai stadiums. But this being a new year, maybe King Khan will return to the stands. We'll have to just wait and watch!
