Yes. It seems to be a bug. Also I am unable to download videos. To be specific, "automatically download on wifi" is ON and the videos or the video status received after i turned on wifi this morning is getting downloaded. But those videos or video status which are received before is not getting downloaded.

Installed v2.23.8.23 from ApkMirror. Still same.

As per reddit users both 8.22 as well as 8.23 have this issue. Try rolling back to previous version.

Still no update. I tried rolling back to v2.23.8.21 (downloaded from ApkMirror). It gives package error.

You can't roll back. It will definitely give you an error. You need to uninstall the app & reinstall the older version i.e. v2.23.8.21

First backup entire chat history to google drive, then uninstall latest version and install old version.
