WhatsApp beta versions are a good place to get an early look at new features that will be introduced on future updates. The latest WhatsApp beta for iOS reveals an exciting new feature, which will give users the ability to share music with their friends. Other new features being hinted at include bigger emojis, Twitter-like mentions, and public groups.
The most interesting feature on the beta version is no doubt the music sharing feature. As the name suggests, users will be able to share a song with their friends, and a small music player with the relevant album artwork will appear in the chat window. The feature was first spotted by Macerkopf and in its current avatar, this feature only works with music stored on the device or Apple Music . For Apple Music sharing, both the sender and receiver need to be paid subscribers.
Apple introduced bigger emojis on iOS 10, and WhatsApp is all set to match them in terms of size. WhatsApp is also set to get features like public group invites, and a Twitter-like mentions feature that will let users tag any contact from their address book in a chat.
Despite showing up on beta version, there is no guarantee that these features will be introduced on WhatsApp any time soon. Beta versions for Android too have recently hinted at a lot of new features like video calling, voice mails, and public group invites among others.
