Melbourne, Jun 17 (ANI): Spin legend Shane Warne has questioned Australia's cricket selectors for their decision to axe Simon Katich and retain Ricky Ponting in the side.
rne is aggrieved at the double standards that saw Katich shown the door while players such as Ponting and Brad Haddin were retained.
He said that if the selectors were serious about rejuvenating the Australian team they would have also left out Ponting, saying it was much easier to drop Katich than the former captain.
"I think what they're doing with Ricky is saying 'Let's take the captaincy off him and let's see how he goes'," Warne said.
He was speaking from the commentary box during a rain break on Day 1 of the third Test between England and Sri Lanka at Southampton.
