Amazon.com Inc may submit an offer to buy Indian e-commerce firm Flipkart, which is in advanced talks with Walmart Inc. for selling a majority stake.

Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, is in talks to buy 55% of Flipkart through a mix of primary and secondary share purchases in a deal that could value Flipkart at $21 billion.

Amazon may make rival bid for Flipkart

Well what's happening??? Like few months ago Flipkart had almost signed a deal with Snapdeal to merge into one and now this. Well if Walmart comes in India then it will surely be a deal breaker as we might tough competition between amazon and Walmart. Hope they do give really good offers and not be like AliExpress which doesn't even seem to be extinct in India.

According to a new report, Amazon is interested in buying Flipkart, its arch rival in India. Amazon, whose CEO Jeff Bezos is world's richest man, has apparently held exploratory talks to buy Flipkart. But Flipkart doesn't seem to interested in the offer. The Indian e-commerce site is hoping to get into a partnership with Walmart that may see the US retail giant acquiring majority stake in Flipkart.

The Mint, a business newspaper, reports that Amazon may spend as much as $20 billion to acquire Flipkart. But then Walmart is reportedly in talks with Flipkart to buy 55 per cent of its shares, hoping to get into the e-commerce space in India, one of the world's most populous markets. The move will ensure that Walmart doesn't lose to Amazon in India the way it lost to it in the USA.

Amazon offers a break-up fee of upto 2bn

Global ecommerce giant Amazon is said to have offered a breakup fee of between $1 billion and $2 billion in its talks to acquire a significant stake in Indian ecommerce leader Flipkart.
If accepted by Flipkart and its investors, Amazon and the Indian company will file a pre-filing consultancy request before anti-trust regulator Competition Commission of India (CCI) with preliminary details of the impact of the merger, should it go through.

The breakup fee shows how keen Amazon is on a substantial stake in its Indian rival. The breakup fee is also a turning point in Flipkart’s discussions with Walmart
