India's second largest telecom operator Vodafone India on Wednesday launched a " Double Data " plan which gives 4G prepaid users double data on all existing 4G market data packs starting from Rs 255.

This offer effectively gives double data for a period of 28 days. A recharge of Rs 255 for 1GB 4G data will give the customer additional 1GB 4G data.

Similarly, the telco is offering a total of 6GB 4G data at Rs 459, 8GB 4G data at Rs 559, 20GB 4G data at Rs 999 pack, and 40GB 4G data at Rs 1999.

This plan thus offers 1GB data at Rs 50 when purchasing the Rs 999 pack.

"We are confident that this value offering will further enhance mobile internet experience for our customers," Apoorva Mehrotra, Business Head, Delhi-NCR said in a statement.

The move comes given the stiff competition posed by Reliance Jio 's extension of its free data and voice services till March 31, 2017.
