Chinese browser company, UCWeb, has released UC Browser 9.4 for Android, bringing some key improvements to offer a speedier browsing experience.

UC Browser now offers an Auto Pager feature, an upgraded Speed Mode, and increased download speeds, among other features for faster web browsing.

With the Auto Pager feature, the browser automatically loads the next page in case it's part of a series of pages. For instance the 'lite' versions of Google search listings and Facebook feeds are split into multiple pages. Through the Auto Pager feature, the browser automatically loads the next page when the user comes to the end of a page.

The Speed Mode II feature detects the type of Internet connection the users are on, the device they are using, and the webpage, and fetches the most suitable version of the webpage on the browser. Taking the above factors into consideration, UC Browser 9.4 will load the Desktop, Mobile, or a Lite version of a webpage.

UC Web claims that the new version of the browser downloads webpage content faster with the average download speed under 3G network double than that of the previous iteration of the browser.

In addition to the speed improvements, the version 9.4 of the UC Browser allows users to easily save pictures from Facebook by long pressing on them and storing them via a pop-up menu.

UC Browser 9.4 also offers a Facebook Video Uploader, for recording and uploading videos to Facebook straightaway with one single step. It also comes with Android 4.4 support, typing optimisation, and additional Hindi support.

New Features:
1. AutoPager
Create a seamless reading experience with the next page being automatically loaded when you reach the end of your current page. It works on the lite version of popular sites like Google, Twitter, Facebook and more.
2. Speed Mode II
An upgraded Speed Mode which automatically fetches the most suitable versions of webpages depending on your network condition.
3. Increased Download Speeds
Improved efficiency of network connections to double download speeds.
4. Download Photos from Facebook
Now you can download your favourite photos on Facebook and save to your phone.
5. Save Page Add-on
The Save Page add-on is updated, and you can download it on UC Add-on Center or Google Play.
6. Facebook Video Uploader
Try this new Add-on that allows convenient uploading of videos to Facebook.
7. General Improvements
Optimisation of typing, and Hindi support.

Chinese apps like UC browser are big threat to national security as per following article.

Chinese apps: Government worried about security risks

The rising popularity of Chinesemade mobile applications among smartphone users in India has caught the attention of the government, which is worried about potential security risks of the development.

The concerns in the home ministry, the telecom department and the Cyber Emergency Response Team have been triggered by the popularity of instant messaging app WeChat and UC Browser, both of which figure in the top ten most downloaded free apps on the Google Play store.

A senior home ministry official told ET that the government is in discussions with various agencies, including the telecom department, about the Chinese app makers' practices and possible data security threats, although no official communication has been sent to the companies yet.

"We will come out with concrete observations soon," said Rakesh Singh, a joint secretary who oversees internal security at the home ministry. Last month, market researcher StatCounter said UC Browser had surpassed Opera to become the most popular mobile browser in India while WeChat, owned by China-based Tencent Holdings, said it had over 100 million users outside China, most of whom are from fast-growing smartphone markets such as India, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Singh said the discussions in New Delhi are not limited to WeChat and UC Browser but broader mobile policy matters and how India would handle such issues. "It should not happen that today we take a call on WeChat and tomorrow something else starts," he said.

Chinese technology firms, which are looking to expand beyond their home market, are no strangers to attention from the Indian security establishment. In the past, India urged Chinese telecom gear makers Huawei and ZTE to disclose details of their ownership over concerns about harmful software being installed on such equipment. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay said the government must conduct a review of Chinese apps as they have access to personal data such as messages and chats from millions of Indian smartphone users.

"Instead of panicking, India needs to send across the message to China that we are watching them," he said. "These apps should be scanned and monitored." Aided by rising mobile phone penetration and the launch of cheap devices, foreign mobile applications have quickly grown in the Indian smartphone market, where over 6 million smartphones were sold during the first three months of 2013, according to market researcher IDC.

Expanding at 129%, India is now the world's fastest-growing smartphone market, according to another research firm Canalys. J Satyanarayana, secretary at the department of electronics and IT, said the government will scrutinise the applications if concerns are raised.
