starsports.com have decided to discontinue the subscription services for live streaming of football matches. The streaming will now mostly be delayed and perhaps there won't be any streaming of English Premier League games. Do you think after giving up the rights of La Liga, Serie A, FA Cup & Community Shield, Star Sports has become more cricket centric? I believe they may give up Premier League too once the contract expires. What do you think guys?

RE: Star Sports to discontinue live streamin services from 22nd August.

It's a business decision as we Indians prefer free so most of us prefer 5 min delayed broadcast instead of paying subscription fee. So they are shutting down paid subscription

Thread title is misleading you should mention Live Pro streaming as free stream version will be available as earlier

starsports.com was launched with a specific purpose to host live streaming services. But after losing so many rights, I think star will now be reduced to a cricket only channel with a few other domestic sports events. It also defeats the purpose of 4 channels. Sony needs 4 sports channels and a website like the earlier starsports.com more than Star.

Specific purpose was

SS1 : English commentary of all Int cricket and racing
SS2 : Domestic sports/ tennis
SS3 : Hindi commentary of indian cricket
SS4 : mostly Football, Tennis and sometime racing

So from the start there was only 1 ch for football, So why do you think it defeats the purpose of 4 chs ?:huh

Sony have sonyLiv.com but they are one of the worst broadcaster as they cannot provide live stream of IND vs SL ongoing series

Given the number of rights they have now, 2 or at max 3 channels are enough. With digitisation, there is no need for a separate channel for Hindi as one can simply change the language with the language button.

If you have many crickets rights then it's not enough as Test match/ODI runs whole day ;)

On top of that you have to broadcast in Hindi to capture large market share and for that you need to show graphics also in Hindi that means seperate channel
