Sony started rolling out Android Nougat 7.0 update for Xperia X smartphones earlier this week, and it is now reaching users in India. Sony has been among the first companies to begin rolling out the latest iteration of the Android operating system for its smartphones. Last month, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ received the update, and this week Xperia X is being rolled out to users all around.

In order to install the update, the first thing a user must ensure that their smartphone’s battery is at least 50 percent charged and is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Now, when a user receives a notification message for this update, follow these simple steps. Naturally, selected “Yes, I’m in”, when you are tap to run an update. After the software is downloaded, select “Install now.” Once that is done, the smartphone will restart automatically, and turn on to the updated version. The new update will move your build number to version 34.2.A.0.266.

While Sony Xperia X users will receive a notification for the update, they can also look up themselves to check the availability of the update. In order to do that, head over to Software Update under the About Phone option in your smartphone’s Settings. Tap on the update, and select ‘Yes, I’m in’. And then the process is the same as above. Download, install, the phone will restart, and the update is done.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update brings in improvements to the user experience with new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls and improved data saver and battery features. Some of the most prominent upgrades are the on-the-go Doze mode, split screen, quick app switch and direct reply feature, among others.

Besides the Xperia X phones, some of the Sony devices that are scheduled to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update are the Xperia Z4 tablet, Zperia Z3+, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact. The Xperia Z3, which was the first non-Nexus smartphones to get the Android N Developer Preview, isn’t included in the list.

The Sony Xperia X was launched back in May this year. The smartphone flaunts a 5-inch 1080p display, and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 64-bit processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It also comes with 64GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 200GB using a microSD card. On the photography front, the Xperia X is equipped with a 23-megapixel primary camera a 13-megapixel selfie camera. It is fuelled by a 2,620mAh battery, and comes with dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity options.
