Sony has been hinting that its flagship Xperia Z2 would be making its way to Verizon. The company posted an image of the smartphone with Verizon's logo on its Indonesian Facebook page.
Sony has never received that kind of support in getting U.S. carriers to offer its smartphones alongside Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC, and Nokia. T-Mobile and AT&T have both kept at least one Sony smartphone in their lineup. Sony is about to get another huge endorsement in the form of Verizon launching its flagship Xperia Z2 smartphone.
Verizon and Sony haven't confirmed that the Xperia Z2 will be coming to Verizon's network this summer. Sony, in its apparent overexcitement, has posted an image of the Xperia Z2 with Verizon's logo proudly showing.
The company has made another slip-up by posting an image of the Xperia Z2, highlighting its waterproof case and Verizon branding, on its Indonesian Facebook page, although that image shown here, above, has been removed.
Most recent reports claim that Verizon will begin selling the Sony Xperia Z2 in mid-August. The smartphone will also come with built-in LTE-Advanced support, taking advantage of Verizon's new XLTE network, which offers smartphones that support the technology the chance to achieve faster network speeds and fewer dropped calls on its existing LTE network. The iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5, and HTC One M8 are also compatible with XLTE.
Sony is well-known for the quality of its television displays and the company has used similar technology in the Sony Xperia Z2. It features a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD LCD Triluminos display with X-Reality for mobile picture engine built-in. The smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat, is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and has 3 GB of RAM. It ships with 16 GB of internal storage and also includes a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 128 GB microSD cards.
One of the Xperia Z2's best features is its high-end 20.7-megapixel rear camera, which uses Sony's award-winning G Lens and Bionz processor for its mobile image-processing engine. This allows the smartphone to replace your point-and-shoot.
The Sony Xperia Z2 is also IP55/IP58 certified, which means that it is extremely durable and is waterproof and dust-resistant and packs in a large, nonremovable 3,200 mAh battery.
There's no word on an exact release date, but the Xperia Z2 is widely expected to be offered by Verizon. Its price will be on par with smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and iPhone 5s. Sony leaks 20.7-megapixel and waterproof Xperia Z2 is coming to Verizon : PERSONAL TECH : Tech Times
