Sony has announced two new ultra-fast, rugged portable HDD RAID drives in India. The rugged drives are aimed at professional needs involving 4K production and on location fast data transfer.
Sony RAIDs – PSZ-RA4T (4TB) and PSZ-RA6T (6TB) – promise read/write speeds of up to 440MB/s. The Sony RAID drives also come with faster USB 3.0 and dual Thunderbolt2 ports for connectivity and data transfer. The dual Thunderbolt ports support daisy chain up to 6 units, compatible with Windows and Mac PC. Sony says flexibility is further enhanced with support for hardware RAID 0, RAID 1 or JBOD modes.
Sony’s Pro RAID HDD is fully compatible with the ‘Memory Media Utility’ application which offers various management functions. The media management software displays device information like capacity and mode, free disk space and disk status check. With Memory Media Utility, users can view device type and model name, file system and recording mode including available recordable time. The Sony Pro RAID drives are shock-resistant and designed for safe and easy portability.
Sony PSZ-RA4T & PSZ-RA6T are capable of recording up to 480 minutes of MPEG footage. The RAID drives work with SXS Pro+ D series memory cards for data intensive use. The SxS PRO+ D Series comes in 3 capacities: 64GB, 128GB and 256GB and they are exFAT pre-formatted for a quick start-up with PMW-F55 or F5.
The Sony PSZ-RA4T & PSZ-RA6T drives offer a three year warranty and will be available for Rs 38,900 and Rs 46,500 respectively.
