MSM’s Sony Kix beefs up football content with La Liga acquisition
After grabbing the rights to Serie A and FA, Multi Screen Media’s (MSM) football dedicated channel Sony Kix has scored a hat-trick by acquiring the telecast rights to La Liga, the premier division of the Spanish football league system, for three years till 2018.
The broadcaster will exclusively telecast the league across India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives through the three-year deal.
Incidentally, Star India was the incumbent broadcaster for all the three events. The broadcaster had recently acquired rights to Bundesliga till 2020.
These acquisitions strengthen the network’s current portfolio of live football programming which already boasts of a strong line-up of marquee properties including the UEFA EURO 2016, Qualifiers for UEFA EURO 2016, European Qualifiers for 2018 FIFA World Cup, 2018 FIFA World Cup and COPA America 2015.
La Liga is currently the strongest league in Europe as per the UEFA co-efficient points and is home of the some of the biggest names of global football.
