The Android 4.0 ICS-based HTC One S turned up on a couple of Indian online retailers’ sites over the weekend, with pricing as low as Rs. 33,000 on Saholic (Infibeam lists it for Rs. 36,157), with delivery in 2-3 business days.

Both Saholic and Infibeam list the HTC One S bearing a 1.5GHz dual-core processor on the Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon S4 chipset. However, as previous reports about LTE-integrated S4 chipset shortage have indicated, the HTC One S is reportedly actually shipping in India with a less-efficient, previous generation 1.7GHz dual-core Snapgragon S3 processor - at least to start with.

Even the discounted Rs. 33,000 (Infibeam is listing an incredible MRP of Rs. 39,199) does not seem like a very good deal however, especially with the previous generation chipset, when dual-core devices like the Galaxy S II (which now ships with ICS out-of-the-box) are priced at less than Rs. 28,000.

What do you think about the India-pricing of the HTC One S? Has HTC once again with the promise of premium quality managed to overprice one of its top-end offerings? Will such features as Beats Audio come close to justifying it? Do let us know in the comments section below.

In the meanwhile, you can check out our previous coverage of the One S to check out its features and specifications (briefly - 1GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage without microSD expansion slot, 8MP camera, VGA front camera, no FM radio, and a 1,650 mAh battery) read our previous coverage, to get a better idea about a potential purchasing decision.
