Skype has rolled out a new update for Windows Insiders on Fast Ring. The latest update bumps the app to v12.1803.277.0 and brings a couple of new features and improvements. You can head down to take a look at the changelog for the update.
  • Conversation collection – See all shared media, links and files in one place.
  • Find messages in the current conversation – Use the new search filter to find messages in the current conversation faster (to speed things up, try Ctrl + Shift + F).
  • Instant Chat – You no longer need to add friends as contacts. Just search for them on Skype and start the chat.
  • Bug fixes and various improvements

We are releasing a new optimized version of Skype for our customers on Android devices 4.0.3 to 5.1. worldwide. This update—starting to roll out in the next few days—is lighter on both disk and memory consumption, allowing for greater speed and better audio and video quality on lower end Android devices, as well as increased performance in challenging network conditions.

Skype has teamed up with TripAdvisor so you can now send travel plans and tips right inside the Skype app. It’s also got a new integration with StubHub, a platform for sporting and concert tickets, that lets you browse and share events.

Skype Classic is not being killed off…well, not just yet. In July, Microsoft announced Skype 8.0 was launching on the desktop, and that it would be shutting down version 7.0 (aka Skype Classic) as a result. The older version would no longer function after September 1, 2018, it had said. However, the company has now decided to hold off on Skype 7.0’s shutdown for the time being, following significant user backlash.
