Skype for Web by Microsoft is getting a plethora of new features in which users can now call mobile phones and landlines directly from Skype, watch YouTube videos without leaving Skype and more.
The company stated in its blogpost that, Skype for Web is great whether you’re using a shared computer that doesn’t have Skype downloaded, or you just prefer using a web version instead of a downloaded app.“We’ve been listening to you to ensure we’re focused on bringing you the important features first.” it said.
In terms of features, Microsoft stated that users can now call mobile phones and landlines directly from Skype with low rates which will allow them to save money as well. Skype credit or a subscription will be required for making the affordable international calls from Skype. Once you’ve signed in to Skype for Web, you can click on the call phones tab, select your destination, dial the number you would like to call, and then hit the call button.
Users can now watch YouTube videos without leaving Skype. The company has recently improved the way URLs show up in Skype for Web that include an image from the webpage. In addition, if someone posts a YouTube video link in Skype for Web, users will be able to watch it directly in Skype as well.
One can also add new people to a conversation, even if they are not on Skype. You can create a chat with anyone by pressing + New and then press ‘Share a conversation’. Skype has also added notifications to Skype for Web.
