Battery technology is changing at a fast pace as power continues to be the top pain point on smartphones. With smartphones becoming smaller when the batteries are striving to become larger, most companies are focussing on the ability to charge faster. As smartphone manufacturers add features like Fast Charging or VOOC charging in devices, some others are adding this capability to power banks.

Now, Simpiz is ushering in a new battery charging technology called DUBI 1.0 that allows four channels of electricity flow for very high recharging speeds. Simpiz’s DUBI 1.0 technology looks to challenge Qualcomm’s QC 3.0 technology and is powering iTron, arguably the fastest recharging portablepower bank in the world. The company claims its 9,000mAh-capacity iTron fully recharges itself in 18 minutes and after recharging for only 3 minutes, has enough juice to fully charge an iPhone 6S.

“For consumers who are always running out of smart phone battery life, the DUBI 1.0 technology in the iTron is a game changer,” said Simpiz CEO Jacky Fan in a release. “Consumers no longer have to wait hours for their portable batteries to recharge. The iTron conveniently recharges in the same amount of time it takes to get a Caffè Latte at Starbucks.”

Since iTron comes with a charging hub and dock, users can simultaneously use the dock to charge up to three devices while recharging the power bank. The iTron’s charging dock features two standard 5V/2 A USB ports and one Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC) 2.0 port that ensures the fastest possible charge for compatible devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, Google Nexus 6, Sony Xperia Z4, LG G4, HTC One M9, and many more compatible smartphones, phablets and tablets. Using the QC 2.0 port, the iTron automatically determines the best charging speeds for any mobile device, the release said.

Simpiz says the iTron can offer up to 1,000 charging cycles and has a protection mechanism to prevent over-/under-voltage, short-circuiting, overheating and overcurrent.
