Seeking Help Shifting from BSNL to Airtel or Jio AirFiber as their optical fiber unavailable. Whether AirFiber is more reliable?

Along other Airtel, I also had placed a Jio Fiber booking request. It’s been 24 hrs and no Jio Sales representative called back

I did get a sms yesterday that someone would get back.

In case of Airtel, they are very quick, you get a call in minutes after placing a new connection request from the ground sales person.

Airtel wins in this case

AS of now i am using BSNL FTTH since 2021. It was working great untill 2024, untill where the issues started like sudden speed drops for hours, sudden downtime, frequent disconnections, etc. Though they habent yet fixed the issues.

Sometimes the connection just works great and i get the speeds as per the plans. But when i compare this with what other ISP like Jio/Airtel are providing, i do not get extra OTT Packs and IPTV included in my pack. (i am on 499 plan which provides upto 60 mbps speeds). Even BSNL has OTT plans but its a hassle to change the plans and revert if i need to.

So apart from BSNL, the only other FTTH ISP available are local ones like DNA, Ethernet Express, Gwave, Linktel, etc. I cant comment on this as i havent used it personally.

I am looking for something affordable with an option to include OTT/IPTV if needed in the futute and Airtel AirFiber is the option apart from Jio AirFiber. Though eventually Airtel OFC will get expanded, there is no timeline.

Hence i was thinking if I should opt for Airtel AirFiber and disconnect BSNL FTTH. @Bapun bro pls do suggest you inputs

Since you have been already using Airtel AirFiber at your office for some time, you know better about the quality of service compared to me. If it fulfils your needs, especially whether the 1000 GB data limit of AirFiber, whether this limit is sufficient for your family usage with IPTV (which you mentioned as one of your requirements) then you can go for it. Just keep a check on the 5G network (tower) strength at your house outdoor to get a rough idea of whether AirFiber can work smoothly or not.

IMHO, you can adjust with AirFiber rather than suffering from BSNL's downtimes, disconnections, speed drops etc. till you get a reliable optical fiber from any of the national level ISPs (Airtel/Jio).

My house has JioFiber feasibility so I am using it, if they weren't available, maybe I wouldn't have opted for BSNL or any local ISPs in today's time and opted for AirFiber over them. When JioFiber wasn't available here, I tried other providers as I mentioned in the Post Your Broadband Journey thread. Those didn't provide me with a satisfactory experience and had issues almost every week. I had no other option than to use them because of the non-existence of 5G FWA/AirFiber technology during those days.

These days I am hearing that local ISPs are under pressure to improve their QoS (quality of service) due to AirFiber's wide reach. Personally, I don't know whether the state of local ISPs has improved in reality or remains the same as before. It depends on area to area and vendor to vendor too.

Office usage it is working great, only that may be a few times i saw the speeds drop to 30 mbps from 40mbps that is at noon time. But then it got rectified on its own.

Since office we only use it for basic work and not heavy tasks like home usage, i just felt i should seek advice and inputs on how it would be for home usage.

OTT is a requirement, IPTV is not. Since I already have DTH. But since IPTV is offered as a add on to the broadband Plan along with OTT, i dont mind using it.

My only issue is that there should not be excess speed fluctuations as then i will have to take the responsibility of the switch.
