Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit will likely be announced as CM candidate for Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to be held early next year, reported news agency ANI. The announcement is expected to be made at a press conference today by senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Speculations regarding the same have been ripe since the last month after Dikshit met the
Congress leadership in Delhi.
Prashant Kishor has been appointed as party’s poll strategist in UP and it is believed that he has suggested a Brahmin face be projected to represent the party in elections.
Reportedly, he had also suggested Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi’s names as CM candidates but it was rejected by Congress party.
