Shastri to join Indian team management for ODIs

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the inclusion of former all-rounder and cricket commentator, Ravi Shastri, to assist the team management for the upcoming five-match ODI series and a one-off T20I.

Duncan Fletcher, will continue as the head coach, while Shastri has been appointed as the 'Director of Cricket'. In a press release, Sanjay Patel, Honorary Secretary of the BCCI stated: "In culmination of the discussions among all the office bearers of BCCI over the last couple of weeks, the BCCI has decided to avail the services of former India captain, Mr. Ravi Shastri to oversee and guide the Indian cricket team for the forthcoming One Day International matches against England. Mr. Duncan Fletcher will continue as Head Coach while Ravi Shastri will be the overall in-charge of cricket affairs of the Indian team."

In an effort to re-energise the Indian team management, Joe Dawes, the bowling coach and Trevor Penney, the fielding coach, have been rested for the upcoming ODI and T20I matches. Former India all-rounder, Sanjay Bangar and former Indian pacer, Bharat Arun, have been named as the assistant coaches with R Shridhar linking up as the fielding coach.
