New Delhi: After the ongoing Indian Premier League gets over on May 28, India will tour the West Indies for five ODIs and three Tests. The hectic schedule has resulted in some senior players writing to the BCCI, expressing their desire to skip the tour so that they are fit enough for the crucial tours of England and Australia later in the year.

Players like MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh may be rested for this tour which starts in early June.

A successful World Cup campaign and the jam-packed IPL schedule will most definitely drain out the players and crammed up international commitments this year have forced the player to think twice about the low profile West Indies tour.

Earlier, reports of BCCI being keen on sending a full fledged team to the Carribean were doing rounds, but some players are likely to opt out of the tour owing to injury problems and fatigue.

Immediately after the West Indies tour, India would be flying to England in July-August. Keeping this in mind, the senior players want to be fully fit and are taking this tour as an opportunity to regain fitness.

England will then come to India for a One-Day series in November and West Indies will follow for a three-Test and five ODI series. The Indians then travel to Australia for a high-profile series in December-January.

If the senior cricketers are rested, some of the players who have done well in the domestic circuit and in the ongoing IPL may get a look-in.

Reports of Yuvraj Singh being named as captain in the absence of MS Dhoni have also emerged.
