EXCLUSIVE! Audi's next big launch in India, the A6 has been caught testing here in Mumbai by our long-time reader Anirudh Kasliwal. The new A6, which is up for launch this August is significantly better in every aspect when compared to the outgoing model. The swirly stickering on the car is now de-rigeur on most European cars on test in India, a sign that our market has indeed caught up with the rest of the western world in that regard.

Audi plans to price its new A6 in the range of Rs 37 to 48 lakh and intends to bring in four engines - two petrols and two diesels. A 3.0 TFSI and 2.8 FSI will be part of the petrol range and a 3.0 TDI and 2.0 TDI will make up the diesel options. Eventually, Audi also plan to bring in the S6 into India, and that will be northwards of 400 bhp.

The 2.8 FSI and 3.0 TFSI produce 201 and 299 bhp respectively, while the 3.0 TDI and 2.0 TDI produce 245 bhp and 175 bhp respectively. The top-of-the-range six-cylinder models are expected to come with Quattro as standard, the 2.8 FSI may come as front-wheel drive only as well as the four-cylinder 2.0 TDI. Seven-speed S-Tronic gearboxes will be standard on the six-cylinder models and there is a good chance that the 2.0 TDI may be offered with a six-speed manual as an option.
