Schemer: Google's Answer to Foursquare?

Google today revealed their newest social networking venture in the form of Schemer, a site that uses friends' recommendations to help plan activities. While it all still sounds a little vague, the Schemer site has Google boasting about the fact that they have tied up with major content partners such as Time Out, Rolling Stone, National Geographic and Wired.


The site describes Schemer with the following: "Whether it’s exploring a new city, checking out a friend’s movie recommendation, or just finding new activities for your weekends, Schemer lets you discover new things to do, share schemes with friends, and make the most of your day. Think you’re up for it? Join Schemer."

Currently the site is in invite-only beta but you can still apply for an invitation. Check out the vague-ish video describing Schemer below:
