Sanskrit in IITs: Manish Sisodia mocks Smriti, says Java, C++ should be declared 'anti-national'

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia mocked Smriti Irani on twitter after HRD minister informed Lok Sabha that IITs have been asked to teach Sanskrit language for facilitating study of science and technology. Sisodia took to micro-blogging site asking the union minister to declare computer language as 'anti-national' after she requested the premier engineering institutes to teach Sanskrit.

Taking a dig at the union minister's statement, Sisodia tweeted, "One should understand Sanskrit is the only language which can compete with C++, Java, SOL, Python, Javascript. All computers in India using languages like C+, Java, SOL, Python..should b declared anti-national once IITians learn working in sanskrit."

A panel, chaired by former CEC N Gopalaswami, in its report had suggested that IITs may facilitate study of science and technology as reflected in Sanskrit literature along with inter-disciplinary study of Sanskrit and modern subjects, HRD Minister Smriti Irani said in a written reply on Monday. "Accordingly, IITs have been requested to teach Sanskrit language especially with reference to study of works which contain scientific knowledge," Irani said. However, it must be noted that Smriti Irani never said that Sanskrit should be taught as a programming language. Teaching a language (spoken, written) is different from programming language but the Delhi Minister gave an entirely different twist by merging two different issues. At a time when people in India are debating over relevance of studying and learning Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language is gaining immense popularity in countries like Germany. As many as 14 foreign universities have included Sanskrit in their syllabus/courses

Manish sisodia doesn't know the difference between a programming language and a language:rofl

Wat is use of teaching Sanskrit in Engineering college's when it is not used anywhere
These kind of stupid decision can only be expected from an education minister who herself doesn't have a degree[emoji14]:hehe :shy
Modi instead should have considered some another personality other than Irani for MHRD ministry :huh

What is wrong in studying a Indian language?
Why physics, chemistry,English are studied in engg. Where those are of no use??

@piinku1
Physics, Chemistry, English - All those are subjects..

Can you learn all these subjects which is translated in a language called Sanskrit?

There is vast difference buddy. Sanskrit language is dead. The BJP government is not promoting linguistic equality(Marathi, Gujarathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam etc) instead they are trying to spend the income tax payers money in the so called dead language sanskrit. There is no use in that.

Physics is too much important for certain fields such as Mechanical, automobile and civil engineering as it includes thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, stress, strain, bending moments etc
Chemistry is similarly important as it deals again with thermodynamics,Conductors,Insulators and other electrical fields such as batteries etc used in the field of engineering
English is required for Placement purposes,no MNC gives you employment if you are not good in English,so it is compulsory
What good will Sanskrit do in engineering other than increasing the number of subjects,it is used nowhere and if Irani is thinking to introduce Sanskrit why neglecting Hindi and many other languages :huh :huh :huh
Just a foolish decision

Are u studying B tech?
Practically 1st yr physics, chemistry serves no purpose.same with economics,on,entrepreneurship, business management and many papers.
It isn't compulsory,so there should be no problem.
Sanskirt is a unique language.it has vast words with unique meaning.like it has 5tenses.
Kejru & co have no work except criticizing modi work. They should first look their past.

No offence but can you please enlighten all of us about how will Sanskrit help in engineering? Of course it won't be compulsory but will it add in significance in terms of R&D?
Sanskrit is a language which is taught at school level, which is good. But adding it to IIT's, I don't think it's an good idea.
