The Galaxy Note 5 (SM-G920G) is now receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update in India. Firmware version N920GDDU3CQC7 is being rolled out for the handset. Since it’s a major update, it weighs in at just over 1GB.

Bro, any option to receive on imported note 5? My friend is using it and still it has 5.1.1. No OS updates received till date. It's been a year now since he purchased it.

What's the model number of his Note 5?

Bro, you can always flash Indian firmware in his mobile if model number is same. Different models having different hardware, so device will screwed up. Otherwise same model has country lock, so warrenty will be void nothing else. Your friend being in India using foreign Samsung model has voiding warrenty anyways - so that doesn't matter here.

If model is same as Indian Note 5, you are all set.

Thanks bro.. i will soon update the model number. I know it is Made in Korea device, At&T version.
You will have to guide me in flashing firmware as i have never done it before. I hope its not a problem.

No problem bro. I will be more than happy to help you on flashing the firmware through Odin. Just make sure all requirements are full filled. Also take a database backup through Smart Switch so that you can restore it after flashing. Flashing will erase all data and will factory reset the phone.

In general, Samsung US devices use snapdragon chip and Indian devices use exynos. However, for note 5, the chip is same i.e. exynos 7420 for both. So flashing should be possible.

F/FD is what also matters bro. Since dual SIM variant firmware is little different than Single SIM. Also you will loose VoLTE support if firmware not supported that.

Since it is Indian firmware surely VoLTE will be supported.

You might get VoLTE support after moving to Indian firmware. Since other countries does not have VoLTE enabled firmware mostly.
