A motor boat ferrying over 200
passengers capsized in the Kalahi river
in Kamrup district's Chaigaon area in
Assam on Monday.
The incident took place while the boat
was going from Goroimari to Gumi
where a boat race contest was to be
held.
Witnesses said the boat, which was
carrying people well beyond its
capacity, lost its balance after hitting a
wooden bridge over the river and
capsized.
