Minister for Finance and Minister incharge for East Godavari District Anam Ramnarayana Reddy said the government had just released Rs 25 crore towards input subsidy to the farmers whose paddy crop was damaged on account of unseasonal rains and floods .
`A total of 1.62 lakh farmers in East Godavari District will be benefitted by the input subsidy.
It will be distributed among the affected farmers at Rs 6,000 per hectare during the ongoing Rythu Sadassus, he said today while addressing the district review committee (DRC) meeting here.
He said the input subsidy for sugarcane and horticultural crops would soon be released.
Further, he said, another Rs 12 crore was released towards crop insurance taking the village as the base unit.
On the welfare of the tenant farmers, he said the government would soon promulgate an ordinance providing several safeguards to their investment in case of any calamity damaging their crops.
